Job Description

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for ensuring the security, safety and well-being of residents, staff and visitors by patrolling and surveillance of assigned areas. The Security Officer will monitor the property for unusual behaviors, changes, or other discrepancies on the premises and follows safety and security protocols when encountering intruders or trespassers. This position must provide thorough and accurate reporting of time on duty and take great care to protect and maintain confidential information.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Secures premises and individuals by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Inspects buildings, equipment, and access points and controls ingress and egress of property, authorizing the entrance of people and vehicles.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses and obtains signatures on reports when necessary.
  • Reports suspicious behaviors and activities to supervisor.
  • Conducts security patrols (vehicle and/or on foot) to prevent and detect breaches and reports on any irregularities or damage to property, lighting, and equipment.
  • Remains alert and watchful of any irregular or potentially dangerous situations and responds and reacts to alarms or suspicious noises in a timely manner.
  • Uses proper emergency communication channels to contact law enforcement, fire and/or EMS, and follows proper protocol to secure the premises until the relevant authorities arrive.
  • Remains at assigned post throughout the entirety of the shift, ensuring the post is not left unattended.
  • At shift start and shift end, reviews log and entries of previous shift and discusses progress plan with reliever.
  • Escorts residents and guests safely from vehicles into the residence.
  • Maintains security logs and ensures all visitors, contractors, and deliveries are verified and recorded prior to granting entry onto the property.
  • Ensures visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel do not leave designated areas.
  • Uses provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner. Must keep in radio contact at all times.
  • Protects and maintains confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Security Officer Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in law enforcement or military, or a minimum of 3 years professional security services
  • Must have a valid PLB Guard card, CCW permit, and First Aid/CPR certification
  • Must have valid Driver's License and clean DMV driving record
  • Demonstrable knowledge of standard security concepts, practices, and procedures and the ability to implement in real-world situations.
  • Calm, courteous, and professional demeanor with the ability to react appropriately under stressful circumstances
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays; may be required to work additional hours or shifts without notice
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to remain awake and alert throughout shift
  • Has personal character of honesty, trustworthiness and integrity
  • Ability to multitask and keep close attention to detail.
  • Works well as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • When reporting for duty; must be in uniform and equipped with required equipment (firearm, baton, pepper spray, cuffs, flashlight) which must be carried on person throughout shift
  • Familiarity with fire-fighting equipment and with all emergency procedures of the estate. In case of fire, prompt action to be taken by security to safeguard life and property
