Eight million Americans are one paycheck away from becoming homeless. In Washtenaw County, 5000 people are experiencing homelessness. The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) was established in 1982 and is the primary provider of services and emergency shelter for Washtenaw County individuals. SAWC is housed at the Robert J. Delonis Center in downtown Ann Arbor. SAWC works with a diverse range of people struggling with homelessness, including first-time homelessness, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and people battling substance abuse and/or mental health issues. Services are offered through our core programs: Residential Emergency Shelter, Non-Residential, Shelter Diversion, Recuperative Care, and Winter Shelter. The SAWC serves almost 1500 people annually.

The Housing Manager supervises the housing case management team as they assist clients with working toward permanent housing. The manager will work extensively with community resources and act as a representative of SAWC while liaising with other agencies. The Housing Manager must have expertise in collecting data and preparing reports as assigned and be able to work well with community partners. The Housing Manager maintains a small case load of higher acuity guests, aiding them in moving into safe, permanent housing. As a member of SAWC’s leadership team, the Housing Manager is also responsible evaluation and improvement our housing programs. They work closely to hire, train, and supervise case managers to be successful in their role. They work in coordination with other case managers to prepare a plan with the client to find housing as soon as possible, following the “Housing First” model. Hours include afternoons and weekends, and the role does require flexible hours at times. The Shelter is a 24/7 operation and does not close.
Pay and Benefits:
This position has an annual salary range of 55,000-62,000.
