The primary purpose of this position is to transport and process aircraft reclamation material. Accomplish all aircraft movements between receiving, storage areas, and major work sites. Operate tugs and tractors, and perform various tasked outlined in technical orders pertaining to long term storage procedures. Responsibilities Aircraft Movement and Tie Down operations. Serves as senior Nose Walker / Tow Team directing aircraft towing. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is an internal Department of Defense vacancy announcement. The area of consideration is limited to civilians currently assigned within the Department of Defense. In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability to do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a Tractor Operator (Aircraft) WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works primarily outside and is exposed to all kinds of weather conditions, vibrations, and jolts from the tractor and towed equipment. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and/or fumes. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment to avoid injury and possible hazards in the work area. Works in rough terrain, and may be subject to injury from falls or overturned tractors and equipment. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
