POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION
Sports Camp participants spend their day playing a variety of sports indoors and outdoors, arts and crafts and endless fun in the sun while the camp staff guide them throughout the day and ensure their safety. Activities will encourage and support movement, personal growth, and build confidence. Campers will be taught basic to advanced sport-specific skills and enjoy a variety of summer camp activities. All hired staff will have to pass a background check. This summer, we're looking for energetic and responsible camp counselors to help children (ages 3-15 years) develop confidence! We are seeking applicants who are:

  • Ability to relate to and understand the children.
  • Ability to respond to questions or concerns the child may have, which aid in the child's personal growth.
  • Energetic, loves to have fun and can help to create lasting memories, while overseeing the safety of the campers
  • CPR and First Aid Certification a plus - but class training/certification will be provided for those hired
  • Preferred: Basic to advance knowledge/experience with any sports including, but not limited to: badminton, baseball/tee ball/softball, basketball, flag football, golf, kickball, lacrosse, pickleball, soccer, tennis, track & field, volleyball.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Camp Counselors:
  • Supervise small groups of youth ages 3-15 (depends on camp location) and keep them safe at all times.
  • Engage with campers for entirety of duty.
  • Plan, prepare and implement engaging summer camp activities.
  • Swim and monitor pool safety with campers during all swim sessions (only for Tennis & Swim, Tennis, Golf & Swim and Summer Mix at RCCC).
  • Use positive strategies and techniques to redirect camper behavior.
  • Comply with personnel policies for camp staff.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Camp Counselors:
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Some experience working with children.
  • Leads children by always setting a positive example.
  • Ability to plan and implement engaging activities for children.
  • Takes direction and feedback with ease and implements tasks with a positive attitude.
  • Creative, hard-working, energetic, organized, professional, flexible, and team oriented.
