We are seeking a highly skilled Software Virtualization Engineer to support the virtualization of applications onsite in Springfield, VA. This engineer will develop and deliver virtualized application packages optimized for both VDI and thick-client environments, with a focus on performance, persistence, and automation. This is a contract with benefits and requires a TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop virtualized packages for mission baseline applications, including those with plugins and advanced graphics requirements.
• Collaborate with testers and mission SMEs to validate application behavior and functionality.
• Identify user settings (e.g., registry, AppData) that must persist in non-persistent VDI environments.
• Optimize and automate application sequencing processes for efficiency and repeatability.
• Assist with configuration and delivery of applications through virtualization infrastructure.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations efforts.
• Author technical documentation (designs, test plans, implementation guides).
• Provide troubleshooting and performance tuning using VMware SDDC tools.
• Apply regular patches and security updates to virtualized environments.
• Train other team members and support incident resolution and software request fulfillment.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in systems administration/virtualization (Experience may substitute for degree).
• IAT Level II certification (DoD 8140.01M compliant).
• 3+ years experience with VDI platforms (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps, Microsoft RDS).
• 2+ years' experience with application virtualization (Citrix XenApp, App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes).
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 and Server 2012+ operating systems.
• PowerShell scripting for automation and deployment tasks.
• Familiarity with non-persistent VDI environments and user profile management (VMware DEM, Profile-Unity).
• Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Understanding of load balancing and application delivery methods.
• Knowledge of ITIL principles and architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
• VMware Data Center Virtualization certification (VCA-DCV) or similar.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Service+.

Some travel may be required based on mission needs.
