Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 school in Lexington, SC is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position during the current school year (CSY). This role provides essential munication support to students and staff, ensuring an inclusive learning environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective munication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their teachers, classmates, and other school personnel using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities in real time
• Collaborate closely with educators, counselors, and support staff to meet individual student needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting services
• Assist with assignments and facilitate academic support when necessary

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings
• Knowledge of K-12 curriculum and educational terminology preferred
• Ability to adapt to diverse learning environments and student needs
• Strong interpersonal and munication skills
• Familiarity with Deaf culture and advocacy within schools
