The University of Virginia Library invites applications for a Shannon Library Public Services Manager to support the Information Services and Spaces team. This position manages the Shannon Library circulation desks while supervising library staff and student workers. This position will work with the Director of ISS to set the vision for public services in the newly renovated Shannon Library and will work to implement this vision, while coordinating and working with public service managers at other locations. ISS will serve as the pulse of the newly renovated Shannon Library, and this position will communicate and collaborate across library departments to ensure the library is welcoming, runs smoothly, and facilitates access to information. This position reports to the Director of ISS. This is an exempt position at the University of Virginia. Normal work schedule will be Monday-Friday, traditional work hours. Additional hours outside of the normal schedule are expected to occasionally happen based upon the needs of the organization and our patrons.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in Library Science or other academic discipline. Experience: 5 years of relevant experience required.

An ideal candidate communicates clearly in both speech and writing, provides courteous and efficient service to library patrons in person and by phone, and shows the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Physical Demands: Ability to push a full book cart and lift 15 pounds. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Anticipated hiring range: $80,000 - $90,000, commensurate with education and experience.
