Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Linguist II to contribute to the development of language components for various voice-enabled technologies and products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in linguistic data analysis and language technology, with experience in managing data collection, LLM-powered data synthesis, data annotation tasks, prompt engineering, localization, and quality evaluations. This role requires a collaborative and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics.
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams on data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation efforts.
• Evaluate and curate data sets for machine learning models using LLM solutions.
• Assess model and data quality.
• Perform prompt engineering tasks.
• Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses collaboratively.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in General Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics.
• Experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and their applications.
• Proficiency in database queries and data analysis processes (e.g., SQL, RegEx, spreadsheets, R, Unix).
• Experience with Python programming.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred (Additional) Qualifications:

• PhD in Linguistics, Romance Languages, Language Technologies, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, NLP libraries, and tools.

Pay Range: $40 - $45

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
