Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to Laboratory protocol and procedures. Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens, evaluates specimen acceptability, investigates problems with specimens, organizes workload, verifies accuracy of results, collects data on unacceptable specimens, and notifies supervisors of variances. Reports test results timely and according to protocol, documents critical value notifications, and follows policies for correcting results. Notifies relevant providers and authorities regarding microbiology alerts and reportable diseases. Follows laboratory quality control procedures, performs maintenance and calibration on instruments, troubleshoots problems, and adheres to safety and chemical hygiene policies. Communicates with the microbiology team, demonstrates competence in assigned work areas, maintains work area and supplies, participates in orientation and training of new employees, embraces technological solutions, and fosters a culture of safety. Minimum education preferred is an Associate's Degree in a relevant science. Four months clinical laboratory internship preferred. Must be Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or eligible for MLT certification. Evening shift 3pm-11:30pm rotating every other weekend.
