Experienced Fire Investigator Needed!!! Do not apply if you are afraid to get your hands dirty, lack curiosity and inquisitiveness, don’t enjoy a challenge, or are not a self-starter. We are currently seeking a Certified Fire Investigator for part-time support of our forensic operations. In this position, you will apply your technical knowledge to determine the origin and cause of routine as well as complex and unique fires and explosions . This will include structure fires, vehicle fires, products and machinery fires, etc. This position may ultimately transition to full-time employment. Responsibilities You will be responsible for all aspects of private fire investigation from scene exploration and documentation, witness interviews, and photographic and physical evidence collection. Some assignments require a combination of different scientific disciplines; experience working with electrical and mechanical engineers is a strong advantage. This position is extremely flexible. You will determine your own schedule based on workflow, client needs, and your own commitments. The company is also willing to work with the jurisdictional limitations of current public servants. This is not a desk job. Our investigators conduct field and lab-based analyses and deliver verbal and written reports of findings. In some cases, they also provide expert testimony via depositions or court appearances. Minimum Qualifications IAAI-CFI certification required or documented ability to achieve certification within 90 days; with five to ten years of related experience and/or training. NAFI CFEI preferred Associate Degree in Fire Science; Bachelors or Masters a plus Educational requirement may be offset with previous public service experience as a firefighter, fire/arson investigator, or other law enforcement focused on fire investigation Licensed Private Investigator in Utah or documented ability to achieve licensure within 90 days Hands-on fire and explosion investigation and analysis experience; strong technical knowledge of fire scene processing preferred Strong verbal and written communications skills with a technical and non-technical audience Physical requirements: able to Lift up to 50 pounds and able to perform inspections on ladders/roofs. Experience working with minimal supervision Project management experience involving multiple concurrent projects Proficiency with Microsoft Word
