Position: Director of Lending (Finance, Compliance & Policy)

Work Type: Full Time

Locations: Arizona (Onsite) and Cupertino,CA (Onsite)

Responsibilities

Reports to: Vice-President of Finance

Works closely with: Director of Lending Infrastructure

Lending Policy & Compliance Framework

• Establish lending policies, underwriting standards, and credit guidelines for the wholesale loan purchasing program
• Develop and document standard operating procedures for loan review, approval, and portfolio management
• Ensure compliance with California regulations for wholesale lending through the broker channel
• Create loan file review protocols and quality control processes
• Develop portfolio monitoring and servicing procedures

State Licensing Strategy & Preparation

• Lead strategy for state-by-state lending license applications (targeting 2027 launch)
• Research and document licensing requirements for target states
• Prepare license applications, compliance manuals, and regulatory filings
• Establish state-specific compliance frameworks in preparation for direct lending
• Coordinate with legal counsel on licensing matters

Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years in mortgage lending, consumer lending, underwriting, credit policy, or lending operations.
• Strong background in wholesale lending or broker-driven lending channels.
• Hands-on experience with state lending licensing; NMLS experience strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of California lending regulations and multi-state compliance requirements.

• Expertise in lending policy creation, underwriting standards, and credit risk management.
• Skilled in building SOPs, QC processes, and scalable operational frameworks.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and process design abilities.
• Effective communicator who can work cross-functionally with leadership, legal, and compliance teams.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to lead long-term regulatory initiatives.
