Job Description

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of original and reproduced artwork, mirrors, and wall decor for residential and commercial installation. Based in California, the company serves the interior design, hospitality, and retail industries with curated collections, custom capabilities, and a commitment to creative excellence.

  • The Creative Design Lead serves as the creative heartbeat of the Design Department within this company, responsible for translating the Head of Design’s vision into inspired, market-ready creative direction.
  • The Creative Design Lead is both a mentor and a hands-on designer who guides concept development, ensures aesthetic cohesion, and delivers work that upholds standards for innovation, quality, and beauty for artwork, mirrors, and wall decor meant for residential installation.
  • This position requires a strong conceptual thinker and visual storyteller with deep experience in wall art, interior design, or décor.
  • The Creative Design Lead drives the creative process, balancing artistry with business goals while fostering collaboration and excellence across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of Design to establish and refine creative direction for all collections

  • Lead artistic execution across new introductions, key account programs, hospitality, and

  • Guide the design team in brainstorming sessions, trend exploration, and concept development.
  • Translate design strategy into actionable creative briefs that align with brand and business objectives.
  • Mentor and manage a team of traditional, digital, and mixed-media designers to achieve stylistic cohesion and creative excellence.
  • Provide constructive critique and refinement of designs to ensure alignment with company's aesthetic identity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Operations Manager to align deliverables with timelines and production priorities.
  • Provide finished specifications and design packages for tradeshows, product lines, and account-specific needs, ensuring all materials are accurate and production-ready.
  • Research and experiment with new materials, techniques, and artistic approaches that advance innovation.
  • Review prototypes and samples to ensure quality and creative integrity through to final production.
  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on trends, color palettes, and market direction to inform future collections.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of professional experience in art, design, or home décor, with a focus on wall art, interiors, or furnishings.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and relevant market experience.
  • Background in luxury home décor, hospitality, or boutique creative studios preferred.
  • Deep understanding of how art functions within designed spaces and client aesthetics.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring creative teams.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; experience with CAD or 3D visualization tools a plus.
  • Strong composition, color, and trend awareness.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design intent clearly.
  • Deep network and proven relationships within the interior design and hospitality industries, with the ability to interpret client needs, collaborate with design professionals, and create art that complements architectural and interior visions.

Compensation Benchmark – Southern California (2025)

Category Range (Annual) Notes

Base Salary $90,000-$105,000 Median around $100,000

Bonus Potential 5–10% of base Based on project and company performance

Market Context:

This range aligns with compensation for “Creative Design Lead” or “Creative Manager” positions in

environment.
