Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, a strong background in SEC reporting, and a proven track record in managing complex financial operations, including REIT structures and family trust accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical accounting efforts, including the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards. Conduct in-depth accounting research and provide guidance on complex transactions.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, S-3s, and S-8s, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.
• Direct cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed. Optimize banking relationships and liquidity strategies.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and develop financial forecasts. Provide strategic insights to support business planning and investment decisions.
• Oversee tax planning and compliance, including REIT-specific tax considerations. Coordinate with external tax advisors and ensure alignment with corporate strategy.
• Manage accounting and reporting for family trust entities, ensuring compliance with fiduciary and legal requirements.
• Coordinate the preparation of annual financial reports and collaborate with auditors to ensure a smooth year-end close and audit process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• CPA certification required
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience
• At least 2 years of experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm
• Extensive experience with SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, S-3, S-8)
• Strong technical accounting background, including GAAP and SOX compliance
• REIT experience strongly preferred
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
