Job Summary

Creative art therapy provision for children with limited verbal skills who receive preventative services and are involved in child welfare. The therapist works with children under Preventive Services who have limited verbal skills and may be at risk of placement. The therapist will see children with developmental and/or neurological disorders benefiting from creative therapeutic services. Clients reside in all 5 boroughs of NYC; home visits required.

Job Responsibilities

• Use positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Remain flexible and adapt to change.
• Remain sensitive and responsive to cultural differences among program participants and staff.
• Participate in in?service training and on?site workshops as required for professional growth; attend external training at direction of management.
• Willing to make home visits.
• Complete documentation in compliance with the NYC Administration of Children Services.
• Provide crisis intervention services and safety plans as needed.
• Work collaboratively with collateral contacts, team members, and internal and external providers and document all accordingly.
• Participate in weekly supervision.
• Follow the legal and ethical standards of AATA, ATCB, NYSOP.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy.
• A New York State Limited Permit and/or License in Creative Arts Therapy.
• Background in mental health counseling with adults, youth, and families.
• Interest in professional growth and working with youth and families affected by trauma, mental illness, and/or foster care placement.
• Ability to document progress notes into statewide system.
• Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
