Robert Half's marketing & creative client is looking for an Art Director for a 6+ month contract in the Greater Boston area. This is a remote, 20 - 40-hour-per-week opportunity; candidates must be willing and able to work eastern (EST) hours. Our client seeks an Art Director with strong experiential, tradeshow, or large-scale event experience for an exciting remote opportunity; interested candidates must have a portfolio of experiential design samples and be able to provide samples upon request. The Art Director will join a dynamic experiential team, focusing on the production and elevation of event-related design. They will be responsible for conceptualizing and creating graphics at scale, refining typography, leading the translation of visuals into production, and ensuring seamless execution of creative assets for large-scale installations and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the functional and visual integrity of artwork, ensuring it is production-ready and seamlessly adapted to environmental graphics or large-scale event displays (e.g., tradeshows)
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to guide placement and layout of graphic elements
  • Map artwork across various surfaces and environments
  • Apply advanced typography skills to create stunning, impactful designs
  • Manage final delivery and packaging of creative assets to production teams
  • Occasionally participate in presentations or meetings to communicate design concepts and gather feedback

  • 4+ years of experience in art direction, specifically within experiential, commercial, retail, or large-scale events
  • Prior design agency experience is a plus
  • Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills, particularly strong within Illustrator
  • Portfolio of relevant design samples
  • Deep understanding of environmental design, particularly for large-format graphics or tradeshow settings
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and CAD drawings a plus
  • Attention to detail with expertise in scaling, layout, and preparation of production-ready files
  • Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients
  • Exceptional typography skills
  • Ability to balance following brand guidelines and creative exploration
  • Strong project management and communication skills

Portfolio Requirement:

To be considered, candidates should share a portfolio showcasing their prior experience in tradeshows, large-scale installations, or experiential events.
