Responsible for attracting, encouraging and admitting of individuals to the University who meet the standards set by university policy. Assists in the recruiting, application and evaluation process. Develops the knowledge of the University and its range of available opportunities. Counsels / advises students, prospective students and families on matters of admissions. Advises prospective and continuing students on how to apply for admission. The Counselor is a member of the International Team and supports all aspects of team activities, including but not limited to international travel and recruitment; review of international applications; innovative implementation of technology to increase international student engagement; and training and management of student teams for student interviews. Prepare and deliver group information sessions for visiting families to contribute to their understanding of the University of Rochester’s culture and curriculum. Support reception activities such as open houses and yield activities. Plan and execute a virtual engagement strategy for international applicants. Provide support for on campus counselor breakfasts and other secondary school personnel events. Review and evaluate undergraduate applications from assigned geographic regions/schools. Serve as a key member of admissions committee for assigned territory. Conduct admission interviews and complete interview forms. Answer inquiries and participate in College Week Live. Conduct market/territory research and plan travel for recruitment. Build and sustain relationships with secondary school counselors, CBO contacts, and alumni admission volunteers. Plan and execute alumni programs in assigned territories. Prepare reports and budgets related to recruitment travel plans. Conduct admissions interviews and provide timely, accurate information to prospective students and families. Engage in activities across larger admissions teams to meet recruitment goals. Maintain and improve the process for international enrolling undergraduates to obtain immigration approval using Slate platform. Advise 450+ enrolling undergraduate international students on immigration documentation. Verify documentation and New Student Request Forms for I-20 applications. Supervise shipment of completed I-20 forms and manage relationship with shipping vendor. Utilize PowerFAIDS financial aid software to review student aid packages. Collaborate with International Services Office, Financial Aid Office, and other stakeholders to simplify application processing. Continue growth and development in admissions domain through conferences and workshops. Other duties as assigned.
